Boodhoo, Victor R., MD, FAAFP, FRSM

Victor Boodhoo, MD, has been practicing family medicine since 1969, spending seven years in Jamaica before coming to Titusville in 1978. Dr. Boodhoo also has an interest in geriatrics and was the first provider in Brevard County to be certified in the field, (1990-2010). As part of his full-circle care, he performs minor office surgical procedures as well as routine gynecological care.

Dr. Boodhoo incorporates into his practice a maxim of the great teacher, Sir William Osler, who taught, “It is more important to know what patient has a disease than what disease a patient has.” Helping patients make informed decisions is just one approach Dr. Boodhoo takes in his medical practice. He steers patients toward living a healthy lifestyle and encourages them to maintain a long-term wellness strategy. His medical school training from the University of London sensitized him to work closely with patients to accurately diagnose, prepare treatment and to judiciously choose additional measures such as testing. Patients appreciate the approach of comprehensive consultation while realizing reduced medical costs for healthcare.

Dr. Boodhoo has spoken extensively in Florida and the Caribbean about Alzheimer’s disease. He has also published several articles on geriatrics and family medicine, including an article in the American Journal of Cardiology on prolonged survival (74 years) in un-operated Tetralogy of Fallot with associated mitral valve prolapse, published in February, 1993. Dr. Boodhoo participated in research for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to study childcare and infant mortality in Jamaica (1968 – 1970). The research was published by PAHO in 1970.

In addition to his clinical work for Parrish Medical Group, Dr. Boodhoo has served as:

  • Past President Medical Staff, Parrish Medical Center
  • Past Chairman of Continuing Medical Education, Florida Academy of Family Physicians
  • Chairman of the International Board of the University of the West Indies’ Medical Alumni Association

Dr. Boodhoo lives in Titusville with his wife, Yvette Boodhoo, Ph.D. He has two grown children who live with their families in California. He enjoys tennis, cricket, photography, reading and traveling to experience different countries and their cultures.
