Caito, Christina, DO

Christina Caito, DO, specializes in all aspects of obstectrics and gynecology including minimally invasive surgery, pre-conceptual and prenatal care, evaluation of heavy periods, management of both permanent and reversible birth control, and routine well woman exams. Dr. Caito is certified as an osteopathic physician by the State of Florida, and holds certification in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, and neonatal resuscitation.

A kind, caring, and empathetic physician, Dr. Caito prides herself on getting to know her patients as people, not just as a medical problem or illness. Rather than just treat symptoms, Dr. Caito also aims to find the cause of the problem or prevent problems before they start.

After completing her undergradutate degree at Indiana University, Dr. Caito attended Nova Southeastern University where she received a degree in osteopathic medicine. She completed her residency training at Garden City Hospital in Detroit where she was chief resident for two years. While a resident, she participated in research and served as a principle investigator for four years in hopes to help aid future medical advancements. This research was conducted from tissue that would have otherwise been disposed of in medical waste such as umbilical cord blood and placental tissue. She authored and received recognition for two papers on the topics of “Pap Smear Guidelines” and “Affects and Outcomes of Premature Birth”.  As a result of this work, she was also named Researcher of the Year with BennettBio Inc. in 2012.

Dr. Caito recently completed training in  minimally invasive surgery and remains dedicated to learning new practices and standards of care that she can bring to her patients.

Dr. Caito is active in professional organizations including the American Medical Women’s Association (President 2006-2007, member 2005-2007), Student Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2005-2009) and American Osteopathic Association (2005-2009).

Dr. Caito gets involved in her community as well, participating in a wide variety of charitable works to support victims of domestic violence. She also participates in pet therapy with nursing home patients, visiting monthly with her dog Olivia to help healing and lift spirits of the elderly patients.

Her personal interests include traveling, sports, her three dogs, painting, spending time with her nephew and outdoor community activities. Dr. Caito also hopes to join medical missions in Africa someday.
